The Housing Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that applications are now being accepted for the ISC Child and Family Services Renovation Program.
The program aims to improve the health and safety of privately owned homes with one or more children in the household by addressing substandard housing conditions. Approved applicants may receive a one‑time renovation grant of up to $40,000.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Registration on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry
- Being the homeowner occupying the residence
- Having at least one household member aged 26 or younger
- Applicants sharing custody are eligible and must provide custody details
- Requiring major repairs due to housing conditions that pose health and safety risks
Launched as a pilot program in December 2024, the initiative approved $960,000 in grants across 24 households in its first year. Following a program review, several improvements have been implemented for the second round, including a new Overcrowding Supplement to support the creation of additional bedrooms and/or bathrooms. Applicants interested in this supplement must complete the designated section of the application.
First‑time applicants must complete a preliminary request form to confirm eligibility, available in-person or at www.kahnawake.com/housing.
Returning applicants may skip the request form but must complete the updated application, which will be mailed or made available for pickup on Tuesday, March 31st.
The deadline to apply is Friday, May 22, 2026.
