Hydro Quebec Vegetation Management Plan – Phase II

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that Phase II of Hydro Quebec’s Vegetation Management Plan will commence next week. The work will be carried out by Asplundh Canada, in collaboration with local subcontractor AD Tree Service.

Vegetation trimming will begin in the eastern sector of the community, starting at the New Development, and continue westward along the Chateauguay boundary. Crews will be active in central Kahnawà:ke, including the Old Malone Highway, Old Chateauguay Road (OCR), and adjacent areas of the OCR such as Big Fence Road. Additional trimming may occur along Route 138 and nearby locations, as required.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 15th, and is expected to be completed within four (4) weeks.

This initiative is essential to maintain compliance with safety regulations and to support the reliability of electrical infrastructure, particularly during adverse weather conditions. Proactively trimming vegetation near power lines can help reduce the risk of outages caused by falling branches or storm damage.

The Mohawk Council appreciates the community’s attention and cooperation during this important maintenance effort.
