Inflation benefit payment timeline update

Public Service Announcement

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise community members that cheques for the Inflation Benefit will begin to be mailed out in the coming days.

All cheques will be postdated to Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and will only be able to be cashed beginning on that date. This measure has been put in place to ensure fairness, so that all eligible recipients have access to the $500 benefit on the same day. All cheques will be valid to cash in for one (1) year.

Community members who applied or updated their information after the deadline will still receive a cheque; however, their payment will be issued at a later date. The anticipated date is expected to be at the end of summer.

MCK appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as this process is completed.
