Purpose:
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Tioweró:ton, ensuring that goals are met efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with organizational priorities. This role provides leadership, direction, and support to staff, manages resources, and works collaboratively with other teams to deliver high-quality services and achieve strategic objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Tiowero:ton Management
- Leads the development, implementation and maintenance of Tioweró:ton specific policies, programs and regulatory frameworks.
- Acts as a subject matter expert and resource to the Tioweró:ton Committee by presenting information, interpreting policies, identifying implications, and offering recommendations to facilitate informed Committee decisions.
- Implements the decisions of the Tioweró:ton Committee.
- Approves cabin site allotments based on established policy and Committee direction.
- Implements the operational plans for Tiowero:ton.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and safety standards.
- Ensures effective stewardship and operational management of the Tioweró:ton Territory.
- Collaborates with MCK Units and Community organizations for the effective operations of the Tioweró:ton Territory.
- Develops and prepares funding proposals to secure financial support for projects, programs and initiatives.
- Creates in collaboration with the GM of Operations the communication and education plan for the Tioweró:ton Territory.
Leadership and management of the Tiowero:ton Team.
- Lead, motivate, and develop team members to meet performance standards, and foster a positive work environment.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to Tioweró:ton Caretakers and other staff.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Recruit, onboard, and train new staff members as needed.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily departmental activities to ensure service quality and efficiency.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of processes, procedures, and standards in conjunction with the GM of Operations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and safety standards.
- Contribute to departmental and organizational strategic plans.
- Analyze operational performance and implement improvements.
- Assists the GM of Operations with creating and implementing the budgets for Tiowero:ton
- Maintain effective communication with employees, senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across departments to support organizational goals.
- Prepare reports on performance metrics, trends, and outcomes.
- Use data to make informed decisions and improve results.
- Represent the organization at internal and external meetings or events.
- Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Post- secondary education in Public Administration or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory or management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong leadership, supervisory and people management skills.
- Knowledge of the Tioweró:ton Territory including Land and Environmental stewardship.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Effectively leads a remote team.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficiency in budget management.
- Ability to respond to complex issues and time-sensitive situations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external clients, fostering positive and respectful working relationships.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adhere to the MCK Policies and Kanien’kéha Language initiatives.
- Ability to communicate in the Kanien’kéha and French languages is an asset.
- The willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language.
Working Environment:
- Five-day work week is performed in an office environment.
- Frequent travel to the Tioweró:ton Territory is required to support operational oversight.
- Moderate to high stress due to workload.
- Occasional overtime.
