Purpose:
The Lands Technician Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Lands Unit including Tioweró:ton by assisting with land management files, communications, inspections, and registry work. Plays a key role in ensuring efficient service delivery to the community and supporting policy, mapping, and registry initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work on Land Management files, including land transfers, mapping requests, and sketching (Junior Technician-level tasks).
- Assist in land inspections to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Support the development of a communication plan to improve service delivery to the community.
- Collaborate with the Public Relations Unit (PRU) to create social media and other media content for Lands Management and Tioweró:ton.
- Assist with Tioweró:ton registry work and related administrative processes.
- Support updates to Tioweró:ton policies and assist in implementing related communication strategies.
- Perform general Lands Management and Tioweró:ton tasks as required.
Education & Experience:
- DEC in Business Administration or related field plus two (2) years relevant experience OR
- High School Diploma plus five (5) years relevant experience in administration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Lands Unit policies and operational procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent knowledge of computer software applications (AUTOCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Knowledge of policy development and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external clients, fostering positive and respectful working relationships.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Adhere to MCK Employment Policies and Kanien’kéha Language initiatives.
- Ability to communicate in the Kanien’kéha and French languages is an asset.
- The willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language.
Working Environment:
- Five-day work week is performed in an office environment.
- Some field work or site visits required due to nature of the work.
- Moderate stress due to workload.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
