Kahnawà:ke Hosts Iroquois Caucus General Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Iroquois Caucus will meet in Kahnawà:ke on Wednesday and Thursday, May 29 and 30, 2024.

Wednesday’s meeting will consist of a relationship-building meeting with representatives of the Blackfoot Confederacy, and Thursday’s General Assembly agenda will include:

  • Canada Pension Plan Presentation
  • Great Lakes Adaption Management
  • Harvesting Summit Update
  • Jay Treaty Border Alliance Updates

The Iroquois Caucus was created in 2007 and consists of elected Councils from Kahnawà:ke, Akwesasne, Kanehsatà:ke, Tyendinaga, Wahta, Six Nations, and the Oneida Nation of the Thames.

The two full-day meetings will be attended by several of the Ratitsénhaienhs, as scheduling permits. As is customary, members of the host community are welcome to attend Thursday’s General Assembly, which will take place in the TwoOSeven Steakhouse meeting room starting at 9am.

  • Transfer Depot will be closed

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Orange Shirt Day office closure

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Orange Shirt Day on Wednesday, September 30th.

Regular household Recycling pickup service and Compost collection will continue as usual. Please have your bins curbside by 7am. The Transfer Depot will be closed.

As the Town Garage will be closed, all cardboard drop-offs will be postponed to Thursday, October 1st.

All essential services will remain in operation. Regular business hours will resume on Thursday, October 1st, at 8:30am.
