Kahnawake Peacekeepers warn of phishing scam targeting community

Peacekeepers

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are warning community members of a phishing scam email making its way through community organizations and private email servers.

The email has a subject line “(Name of person), (Email address of the person), has shared the document ‘(Name of organization) supporting documents’ with you.”

The body of the email invites the reader to visit the organization’s portal and provides two links.

Clicking on these links will compromise the recipient’s email and send duplicate emails to every contact in that person’s email history.

The Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers are advising organizations to consult with their cybersecurity departments or IT specialists if any employees have clicked the links.

Community members are advised not to click on links from emails that they are not expecting without first confirming their origin in person or by telephone with the organization or individual the email appears to be from.
