The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that the Ratitsénhaienhs welcomed Mr. Robert P. Sanders, Consul General representing the U.S. Consulate General, and His Majesty Kenfack Tanga Fouotsop II, King of the Balatchi, in two separate meetings on Friday, October 25, 2024. The meetings were platforms for fostering relationships and exchanging insights with esteemed global officials.
As part of routine diplomatic protocol, the U.S. Consulate General visits Kahnawà:ke when a new Grand Chief takes office. This visit aimed to establish a constructive relationship and discuss matters pertinent to both Kahnawà:ke and the United States.
Mr. Robert P. Sanders, a distinguished career Senior Foreign Service Officer, serves as the Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. His extensive experience includes roles such as Political Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and assignments in Islamabad, Pakistan; Beirut, Lebanon; Provincial Reconstruction Team-Khost, Afghanistan; and Principal Officer in Thessaloniki, Greece.
His Majesty King Kenfack Tanga Fouotsop II represents the Balatchi tribe, located in the West of Cameroon, Africa. The King’s participation in the discussions underscores the importance of global relationships and the shared interests of indigenous communities worldwide.
