KEPO and consultants surveying culverts and discussing creek restoration

Public Service Announcement

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) and consultants from Water’s Edge will be surveying culverts along North Creek, Suzanne River, and Little Suzanne River on Wednesday, March 19th.

As part of their larger aquatic ecosystem restoration project – Entewahnekahserón:ni’: We are Rejuvenating the Water, the surveys will be used to design culvert upgrades to facilitate stream flows, reduce flood risk, and improve fish habitat in the creeks. Two consultants will be on-site and always accompanied by KEPO staff while on the Territory.

Additionally, there will be a Creek Restoration meeting on Wednesday, March 19th, from 5pm to 8pm at the Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services Family Wellness Center on Mohawk Trail Road.

KEPO and Water’s Edge consultants will present restoration options for Suzanne and Little Suzanne Rivers, including culvert upgrades, and discuss them with community members.

Please attend if you want to learn more about the works and/or provide feedback and suggestions for upcoming works. Quesadillas from Screaming Chef will be provided.

Please call KEPO at 450-635-0600 or email environmentprotection@mck.ca if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.
