KEPO Tree Planting in Big Fence and Suzanne River

Public Service Announcement

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform the community about a tree planting initiative taking place today, Tuesday, October 29th, in collaboration with volunteers from Pomerleau and local students.

The planting will occur at two locations: a site along the Suzanne River, previously used for equipment staging after the diesel spill, and in Big Fence, where invasive buckthorn was removed earlier this fall. Additionally, trees will be planted in forested areas where gaps were left by deceased ash trees. This restoration effort will help prevent the return of invasive species and support ecosystem recovery.

KEPO kindly reminds hunters in these areas to exercise caution due to the activities underway.

For more information, please contact KEPO at 450-635-0600 or email environmentprotection@mck.ca.
