Left-hand lane closed indefinitely on the Mercier Bridge

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) has been informed by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD) that the left-hand lane of the Mercier Bridge in the Montreal-bound direction has been closed indefinitely.

According to the MTMD, the closure is a preventative measure following an inspection that identified a safety concern. The MTMD will continue to assess the situation and determine the necessary corrective measures.

The MCK is working closely with the MTMD and will provide additional information to the community as it becomes available.

As a result of the lane closure, residents should expect significant traffic congestion and extended delays when travelling toward Montreal.

The MCK encourages motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider adjusting their travel schedules where possible.

Further updates will be shared as information becomes available.
