MCK

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that it was served a Motion to Institute Proceedings in the Superior Court of Quebec by Mr. Darin Albany on September 14, 2026. This Motion names the MCK as one of the defendants.

The plaintiff alleges that he is owed over $151,000 in damages for psychological injuries and lost property as a result of being asked to leave the Territory for not having requisite permission to reside under community laws.

This issue is now before the court, and the MCK will not be able to provide further comment. As per procedures with legal proceedings, the Ratitsénhaienhs felt it important to inform the community of the Motion for reasons of transparency.

The community’s patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as the legal process takes its course.
