The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform Kahnawa’kehró:non that, in response to rising consumer prices and living costs, it is launching a one-time Inflationary Benefit Payment to provide financial relief directly to community members. The payment is expected to be distributed by May of 2026.
“In a time where inflation has impacted our everyday lives and has caused immense stress, anxiety, and financial uncertainty among community members, this one-time payment provides a meaningful way to support all during these difficult times,” said Ohén:ton í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo. “This reinforces MCK’s commitment to community well-being, and ensures that everyone shares in the success of our collective efforts.”
Every member on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry aged 18 or older will be eligible to receive a one-time $500 payment. This initiative is designed to offset inflationary pressures and ensure that all eligible members benefit directly from the community’s gaming revenue.
“The Council’s decision to utilize gaming revenue for this Inflationary Benefit is in line with our political priority to improve the quality of life of community members,” said Ratsénhaienhs Paul Rice. “As we move forward with gaming expansion, these own source revenues will allow us to invest more in community programs and services as well as provide additional direct benefits.”
More information on distribution of the one-time payment will be made available in the coming weeks.
