MCK authorizes traffic study for busy R-138 intersection

Public Service Announcement

The PublicWorks DepartmentMohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to advise the community that a traffic study will be conducted on R-138 at the Playground intersection. The study, which has been authorized by the MCK, is being conducted by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ) and will take place between Thursday, April 25, and Monday, April 29. The study will provide data on the traffic flow at that intersection, which will help determine if adjustments are needed to be made to the timing of the traffic signals, and other possible improvements to help increase the safety of motorists.

In order to conduct the survey, a specialized camera will be installed by the MTQ at the intersection on Wednesday, April 24, and removed on Tuesday, April 30.

The MCK would like to assure residents that the camera system being used for this study is designed to only gather data on vehicular traffic and does not take pictures of license plates or drivers.

This study is being conducted with permission of the landowner and Playground.

Please drive with caution, slow down when entering construction zones, and respect the Move-Over Law when you see flashing lights. The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
