MCK & CIF unveil elder and disability support program

Public Service Announcement

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that, during a duly convened Council meeting on June 8, 2026, consensus was reached to support the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) Elder and Disability Support Policy.

Following direction provided in spring 2025, the CIF has been restructured to ensure that own-source revenue is accessible, available, and beneficial to community members in meaningful ways. As part of this work, the Elder and Disability Support Program has been developed to better support eligible residents.

The program includes three main components:

  • Elder and Disability Lawn Care Benefit
  • Elder and Disability Minor Home Renovation Benefit
  • Elder and Disability Home Maintenance (Labor) and Support Benefit

These benefits are intended to assist with eligible home and property-related costs that contribute to safety, accessibility, and overall quality of life.

The program will be administered by Client-Based Services. Community members who wish to learn more about eligibility, program details, or the application process are encouraged to contact Client-Based Services at 450-638-0500.

**Please note that interested individuals may be placed on a waitlist until services are officially launched**
