MCK delegation to travel to Ottawa for key priorities discussion

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community about several important meetings taking place outside the Territory, which require the attendance of Ohén:ton Í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo, Ratsénhaienhs Ryan Montour, and Chief Political Advisor Lloyd Phillips.

The delegation will be traveling to Ottawa on Sunday, November 30th, to meet with members of the Iroquois Caucus (IC).  

Topics included are:

  • Formalize an updated Protocol Agreement with the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) (copy will be available for Community Viewing upon signing)
  • Establishing a Chair and Vice-Chair of the IC
  • Blackfoot Confederacy Meeting 

Additional meetings in Ottawa include the Jay Treaty Border Alliance on Monday, December 1st, along with attending a steering committee meeting with Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Rebecca Alty on Tuesday, December 2nd, as per the Kahnawà:ke-Canada Relations Memorandum of Understanding.

The Iroquois Caucus and AFN Special Chiefs Assembly are vital platforms for First Nations leaders to address pressing matters affecting our communities. The delegation is dedicated to ensuring that Kahnawà:ke’s voice is heard during these critical discussions.

The delegation will return to Kahnawà:ke at the conclusion of the deliberations.

  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Waste Management services are as follows:

  • There will be NO Recycling and Compost collection
  • No cardboard drop offs
  • The Transfer Depot will be closed – regular Transfer Depot hours resume on Saturday, July 4th
  • Household Garbage collection will continue as usual

 

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular business hours will resume at 8:30am on Monday, July 6th.
