Press Release

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the formal appointment of Kyle Jacobs as the new Compliance Officer for the Office of the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry (OKKR), in accordance with the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law (KRL).

This appointment was made official through a Mohawk Council Executive Directive (MCED), following a comprehensive hiring process and orientation period.

“This is a significant step forward for the OKKR,” said General Manager Melanie Gilbert. “With the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law enacted in 2019 and the Regulation Respecting Requests for Eviction Orders passed in 2024, we are now entering a phase where we can begin addressing complaints.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Kahnawà:ke in this important role,” said Jacobs. “Our next step will be launching an education campaign for the community in the coming weeks. We aim to begin accepting complaints by April 2025”.

For any questions about the KRL or the OKKR functions, please contact Melanie Gilbert, OKKR General Manager, at 450-632-0690.
