Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke appoints Dawn Marquis-Deere as Executive Director

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Marquis-Deere as Executive Director, effective July 1, 2026.

Following a competitive recruitment process, Mrs. Marquis-Deere was selected as the successful candidate, bringing extensive leadership experience, organizational knowledge, and a demonstrated commitment to the organization and the community.

Mrs. Marquis-Deere joined the MCK on July 18, 2022, as Director of Strategic Planning & Organizational Change Management. She later served as Interim Director of Human Resources in 2023 before accepting the position of Executive Administrative Officer on June 28, 2023.

On September 3, 2025, Mrs. Marquis-Deere was appointed Interim Executive Director, providing leadership of MCK operations. Her stewardship ensured organizational stability and the continued delivery of services and Council priorities.

“Dawn has consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to the organization and the community,” said Ohén:ton Í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo. “Her experience across several senior leadership roles has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of MCK operations, and Council is confident in her ability to lead the organization into the future.”

As Executive Director, Mrs. Marquis-Deere will continue to oversee the administration of the MCK and work closely with the Council Table, Office of the Council of Chiefs, management, staff, and community stakeholders to advance strategic priorities and support the delivery of quality services.

“I am honored to have been selected for this role and grateful for the confidence placed in me,” said Mrs. Marquis-Deere. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside the Ratitsénhaienhs and staff in support of the community and the goals of the organization.”

  • No Cardboard drop-offs
  • Transfer Depot will be closed
  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Waste Management services are as follows:

  • There will be NO Recycling and Compost collection
  • No cardboard drop offs
  • The Transfer Depot will be closed – regular Transfer Depot hours resume on Saturday, July 4th
  • Household Garbage collection will continue as usual

 

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular business hours will resume at 8:30am on Monday, July 6th.
