No Swimming Advisory Lifted in Tioweró:ton

Public Safety Division Announcement

The Public Safety Division, in conjunction with the Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK), wishes to inform the community that the No Swimming Advisory in Tioweró:ton has been lifted.

As confirmed by Environmental Health Services of Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services, it is now safe for recreational activities at Eugene Jacobs, 2nd Bridge Creek, and The Falls. All areas have passed a water bacteriological analysis.

Please note that ‘safe for recreational water use’ does not mean safe to use as drinking water and swimmers should wash their hands before eating or preparing food.

A subsequent test will be done on Monday, August 26, weather permitting.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Public Safety Division at 450-632-0635 or Environmental Health Services at 450-635-9945. For more information on the recreational guidelines, please click here.
