North Creek Crossing closed until further notice

North Creek Crossing closed until further notice MAP

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO), in collaboration with the Public Safety Division, is advising the community that the North Creek crossing located in front of the apartments on Red Bird Road is closed until further notice.

Residents will continue to have access to North Creek Road; however, through-traffic will not be permitted at this time. The closure is necessary due to degradation of the base material beneath the roadway, which has resulted in a partial collapse of the asphalt in several areas.

The culvert was installed as part of KEPO’s North Creek Restoration Project in Fall 2025, with the goal of improving water flow within the creek. KEPO is currently working with the contractor and coordinating with other Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke units to assess the situation and carry out the required repairs as quickly and safely as possible. Additional information, including a timeline for repairs, will be shared with the community as it becomes available.

KEPO thanks residents for their patience and cooperation while efforts are underway to address the issue.

For questions, comments, or concerns, community members may contact the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600 or via email at environmentprotection@mck.ca.
