OCR work and closures

The Capital Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to provide an update to the community for the Old Chateauguay Road (OCR) Rehabilitation Project.

The OCR/Blind Lady’s intersection will be open this weekend, with new closures to be implemented next week.

Starting Monday, June 2nd, at 7am to Wednesday June 4th, at 2:30pm, the OCR/Blind Lady’s intersection will be completely closed, along with the top of Blind Lady’s Hill, and the OCR to Kirby’s Lane. A detour will be in place for local residents.

As of Wednesday, June 4th, until further notice, the intersection will remain closed, along with the OCR from the intersection to Kirby’s Lane, access at the top of Blind Lady’s Hill will be open for local traffic only.

Due to the nature of the roadwork and detour, motorists are being asked to avoid the area, if possible, especially during the rush-hour periods. These closures and detours will continue until November 2025.

The MCK would also like to remind motorists that the Old Chateauguay Road is a limited access road and restricted to local traffic only.

Please drive with caution, slow down when entering construction zones, and respect the Move-Over Law when emergency lights are flashing.

The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression.
