Oil Spill Response Training Exercise at Kateri Island and Marina

The Public Safety Division wishes to inform the community that an Oil Spill Response Training Exercise will take place at Kateri Tekakwitha Island and the Marina on September 21 & 22, 2026.

The exercise will involve Public Safety, KEPO, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, Transport Canada, and the Eastern Canada Response Corporation. A section of shoreline will be used to demonstrate oil spill cleanup and response procedures.

Community members may notice a trailer at the exercise site beginning September 15, which will remain in place until the training concludes on September 22.

Please note: This is a planned training exercise only and not an actual emergency or oil spill.

All essential services will remain in operation. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8th, at 8:30am.
