Ratitsénhaienhs to attend AFNQL Chiefs Assembly in Tiohtià:ke

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo along with Ratsénhaienhs Arnold Boyer, Ross Montour, and Jeffrey Diabo will be in Tiohtià:ke to participate in the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador (AFNQL) Chiefs Assembly. The in-person sessions will take place today, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, May 26th–28th, at the ALT Hotel. 

Attendance for the Assembly will vary, with Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo and Ratsénhaienhs Jeffrey Diabo attending in person on both Wednesday and Thursday. Ratsénhaienhs Arnold Boyer is scheduled to attend in person on Wednesday only, with Ratsénhaienhs Ross Montour participating virtually. 

Agenda items include:

  • Quebec Constitution Bill (Bill 1)
  • Mandate to the AFNQL on the High-Speed Rail Project (Alto)
  • Position on the Long-Term Reform of the Child and Family Services Program
  • Presentation on the Mapping Project on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+) in Québec

Various meetings with the Parti Québécois, along with provincial Liberal and Conservative leaders, are also scheduled, with the Premier of Quebec Christine Fréchette, in attendance.

All Ratsénhaienhs attending in person are expected to return to the office on the day following their respective participation.

  • Transfer Depot will be closed
  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Waste Management services are as follows:

  • There will be NO Recycling and Compost collection
  • No cardboard drop offs
  • The Transfer Depot will be closed – regular Transfer Depot hours resume on Saturday, July 4th
  • Household Garbage collection will continue as usual

 

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular business hours will resume at 8:30am on Monday, July 6th.
