Request for Proposals issued for shoreline erosion planting project in Big Fence

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform local contractors that a Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued for a shoreline planting project in the Big Fence area.

The project involves planting native vegetation along the Big Fence shoreline to help address erosion concerns. Plants will be transported to the site by boat and installed in accordance with a planting schematic. Erosion control blankets will also be placed as part of the work. Staff from the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) will be on site to assist and provide support throughout the project.

Work is expected to begin the week of October 26, 2026. The project is estimated to take approximately four days to complete with a crew of four workers and must be finished by the beginning of November.

Written proposals must be submitted by email no later than Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 2pm ET.

Requests for additional information or questions regarding the RFP must be submitted in writing by email before the deadline specified in the RFP document.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Tsi Na’teiontenonhwerá:tons Awenhnísera on Monday, October 12th.

The Waste Management Department will be closed for cardboard drop-offs. Regular household recycling, compost, and special collections pickup will occur as usual. The Transfer Depot will be closed for the holiday.

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular office business hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13th, at 8:30am.
