Road work and Mercier Bridge ramp closures

Public Service Announcement

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community of upcoming road work on R-138 on Tuesday, October 1, from 9am to 2:30pm. Crews will be repairing and repaving part of the right-hand lane on R-138 West (at the curve just past the traffic light at the Old Traffic Circle), as well as the Multi-Purpose lane (R-138 East) at the lights by Playground.

Additionally, the Jacques-Cartier and Champlain Bridges Inc. will be conducting overnight maintenance work on the R-138 East up-ramp (Chateauguay towards Montreal) each night until Thursday, October 3 from 10pm until 5am (see map below).

Please drive with caution, slow down when entering construction zones, and respect the Move-Over Law when emergency lights are flashing.

The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
