Route 132 resurfacing work to resume April 14

Public Service Announcement

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to advise the community that resurfacing work for R-132 will resume on Sunday, April 14. The work will only be carried out each night between 10pm until 5am. The project is expected to be completed on July 14, 2024.

During the roadwork, one (1) lane will be available in each direction, open to local traffic only, and clients of businesses located on R-132.

This work will also require some full closures, including the R-132 ramp of the Mercier Bridge. Once the date for this closure is confirmed a notice will be sent out to the community.

Work will include the repaving of R-132 between the base of the Mercier Bridge to the second set of lights, replacement of the curbs and guardrails at the base of the R-132 ramp and reshaping of the shoulder of the roadway.

Additionally, the Land Management Committee of the MCK has approved the temporary storage of construction materials and equipment under the Mercier Bridge. Construction debris will be stockpiled at the JCCBI/MCB worksite, and all measures to protect the soil from contamination will be in place. The debris will then be removed by the contractor to an approved dumpsite off-Territory.

This work is being carried out by Mohawk Paving, under contract with the Ministère des Transports du Québec. The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
