Tekakwitha Island Bridge closed for inspection

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) has approved the closure of the Tekakwitha Island Bridge for inspection work by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation. The closure will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 7am to 5pm. During the inspection, the bridge will be inaccessible due to the equipment required for this work.

The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints, or work progression.

  • No Cardboard drop-offs
  • Transfer Depot will be closed
  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Waste Management services are as follows:

  • There will be NO Recycling and Compost collection
  • No cardboard drop offs
  • The Transfer Depot will be closed – regular Transfer Depot hours resume on Saturday, July 4th
  • Household Garbage collection will continue as usual

 

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular business hours will resume at 8:30am on Monday, July 6th.
