The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are pleased to introduce a new service available to the community

Constable Isabelle Nicholas has been serving as Domestic Violence Resource Officer since May 2023, providing services and support to victims of domestic violence.

Some services include acting as a liaison between victims and crown prosecutors, linking victims to partnering services such as CALACS, CAVAC, REBATIR and Kahnawake’s own victims of crime service, Ionkwatahónhsate Victims Services. These organizations are in place to assist victims of sexual assault and domestic violence and provide legal representation for victims for little or no cost.

The Domestic Violence Resource Officer will be notified by responding Peacekeepers and make contact with victims in the aftermath of a domestic violence incident. Emergency calls must still be directed to the Peacekeeper’s phone line at 450-632-6505.

A Facebook page called ‘KMPK Domestic Violence Awareness‘ has just recently gone live for additional information and direct messaging.
