The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is proud to announce the launch of three new social support programs designed to provide targeted financial assistance to Kahnawa’kehró:non during key life moments. These initiatives, focused on funeral, health, and parental support, reflect the community’s enduring commitment to compassion, cultural values, and collective well-being.
The Social Funeral Support Program offers financial support to families grieving the loss of a loved one, helping offset costs associated with gatherings or meals following funerals, memorials, or traditional 10-day feasts. Effective Date: April 1, 2025
The Social Health Support Program is a last-resort financial assistance program that supports Kahnawa’kehró:non facing verified financial hardship and unmet health-related needs. Effective Date: September 15, 2025
The Social Parental Support Program supports parents during pregnancy, birth, and early childhood. This program provides structured financial assistance to those not eligible for provincial or federal parental benefits. Effective Date: September 15, 2025
“These programs are more than financial support—they’re a reflection of our values,” said Iohahí:io Delisle, portfolio lead on Social Supports and Development. “Whether it’s honoring our loved ones, caring for our health, or nurturing the next generation, we’re investing in the strength and dignity of our people.”
Community members are encouraged to contact the Client-Based Services Unit at 450-638-0500 for requirements and other specific details on each program or to begin the application process.
