The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) has been informed by the Jaques-Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) that repair and maintenance work will require the closure of ramps to and from the Mercier Bridge this weekend, Friday, July 24 at 11pm to Monday, July 27, 2026, at 5am. This work and ramp closures are in addition to the current traffic configuration on the Mercier Bridge (one lane in each direction), due to the work on the Quebec portion of the span.

Details:

R-138 East (direction from Chateauguay towards Montreal) will be the only access ramp available towards the Montreal-bound Mercier Bridge.

The R-132 West access ramp (from La Prairie/St. Constant towards Montreal) will be closed. Motorists will have to detour via A-730, A-30 to R-138 in Chateauguay to get to Montreal or take the Champlain Bridge.

R-138 West/Mercier Bridge (direction from Montreal towards the South Shore, all traffic will be diverted to R-132 east. A detour for those heading towards Chateauguay, Mercier, Lery, etc. will have to use A730, A-30 and R-138 in Chateauguay.

Related closures & Traffic mitigation measures:

  • R-207 North (Direction St. Remi towards Kahnawà:ke/Mercier Bridge) CLOSED
  • R-132 West CLOSED at the boundary
  • A-730 North towards R-132 West CLOSED
  • Access ramps from R-138 East & West towards R-207 CLOSED

ONLY KAHNAWA’KEHRÓ:NON will have access to the community via the R-132 West (near Kahnawà:ke Survival School/ boundary), R-207 North (at A-30), and OCR closure points. These closures are in place to minimize impacts to community members.

Public Transportation: A priority bus lane will be in operation for buses coming from Montreal towards Chateauguay.

Please drive with caution, slow down when entering construction zones, and respect the Move-Over Law when emergency lights are flashing.
