Weight Limits Implemented for Bridges in Tioweróton

Public Service Announcement

The Tioweró:ton Department of the Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) in collaboration with Public Safety Division (PSD) of the MCK, is informing the community that weight capacity signage and limits have been implemented for the Second Bridge, Campground Bridge, and Falls Bridge in the Tioweró:ton Territory. These measures follow recommendations from EXP, the engineering firm that conducted inspections in October 2024.

This precautionary measure will remain in effect until necessary repairs can be made. The Tioweró:ton Caretakers are informing propane delivery drivers of the weight capacity requirements. Community members requiring propane or oil deliveries to their cabins are advised to contact their providers to ensure compliance with the specified weight limits:

Falls Bridge:

  • 5 tons for a road vehicle of one (1) unit.
  • 5 tons for a road vehicle of two (2) units.
  • 5 tons for a road vehicle of more than two (2) units.

Second Bridge:

  • 10 tons for a road vehicle of one (1) unit.
  • 15 tons for a road vehicle of two (2) units.
  • 20 tons for a road vehicle of more than two (2) units.

Campground Bridge:

  • 10 tons for a road vehicle of one (1) unit.
  • 15 tons for a road vehicle of two (2) units.
  • 20 tons for a road vehicle of more than two (2) units.

  • No Cardboard drop-offs
  • Transfer Depot will be closed
  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

Waste Management services are as follows:

  • There will be NO Recycling and Compost collection
  • No cardboard drop offs
  • The Transfer Depot will be closed – regular Transfer Depot hours resume on Saturday, July 4th
  • Household Garbage collection will continue as usual

 

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular business hours will resume at 8:30am on Monday, July 6th.
