Caution urged as Icebreaker to transit Seaway on Saturday

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker CCGS Radisson will pass through the St. Lawrence Seaway this Saturday, 24 Ennisk�:wa/March, in preparation for the opening of the 2018 navigation season.

The vessel will be entering the St. Lambert  Lock (just north of Brossard) at approximately 7am and proceed upbound through to Lake Ontario. Additional icebreaker movements are expected to occur after this first transit, depending on ice conditions.

Community members are reminded to urge caution and remain off the ice during this time.

The Seaway is scheduled to officially open next Thursday, 29 Ennisk�:wa/March.
