Sky-Deer attending AFNQL Chiefs Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that Oh�n:ton �:iente ne Ratits�nhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer is in Quebec City for the Assembly of First Nations Quebec � Labrador (AFNQL) Chiefs Assembly, beginning today (Wednesday, June 14).

Agenda items include a Special Session on Our Language Jurisdiction, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People (UNDRIP), Taxation, Public Security, meetings with Ministers Steven Guilbeault, (Environment and Climate Change) and Ian Lafreni�re (Responsible for Relations with the First Nations and the Inuit), along with updates and reports from Chief Portfolio holders.

The AFNQL Chiefs Assembly ends on Friday, June 16, and Oh�n:ton �:iente ne Ratits�nhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer is expected back in the office following the Assembly.
