April Community Meeting – April 30, 2025

The April Community Meeting was held on April 30, 2025, at the Golden Age Club. A total of 60 attendees were present, including 45 community members, 11 Chiefs, 2 support staff, and 2 Golden Age Club employees.

The meeting was promoted via a press release outlining the agenda and is part of the MCK’s ongoing effort to inform stakeholders, build relationships, collect community input, and strengthen transparency.

The agenda included updates on media relations, the Iroquois Caucus Trade Protocol, the Hertel Line economic development project, and the Fair Wage Agreement —prompted by a community request to revisit worker classifications and the Kahnawà:ke Trades Certification Card.

A key item was the Media Relations Update, which included two community feedback questions: whether non-KKR reporters should attend community meetings (3 in favor, 14 opposed), and whether meetings should be recorded for accuracy (11 in favor, 7 opposed).

The meeting also featured a Cannabis Law update, with concerns raised by community members.

Chiefs will follow up on the feedback received and determine next steps.
