Seasonal water main flushing starts today

hydrant flushing

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that crews will be conducting unidirectional flushing of the water distribution system beginning today. The work will take place between 7am and 2:30pm and is expected to last approximately two (2) months.

Unidirectional flushing is the process of cleaning the water system by flowing water in one direction through the water mains. This is accomplished by closing specified valves and by flushing strategically located fire hydrants.
