MCK Public Relations welcomes Emily Kane as new Community Engagement Specialist

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) is pleased to announce that Emily Karihwenhá:wi Kane has been selected as the new Public Relations Specialist – Community Engagement with the Public Relations Unit.

Emily brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to strengthening community connections. As a fluent Kanien’kéha speaker and writer, she embodies the values of cultural preservation and communication that are central to the MCK’s mission.

Her career journey reflects a strong dedication to education, wellness, and community service. Emily began as an Ata’karihtátshera Teacher at Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa. She later joined the Kateri Memorial Foundation as Events Coordinator, eventually stepping into the role of managing the charity. Under her leadership, the Foundation achieved notable successes, including managing the widely celebrated Karonhiarahstha’s Winter Wonderland, which continues to be a cornerstone fundraising initiative in the community.

“Community involvement has always been important to me, and I hold a special place in my heart for both elders and children,” said Kane. “I’m passionate about creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, supported, and connected.”

With a proven background in community involvement, public engagement, and relationship-building, Emily is poised to enhance the Public Relations Unit’s outreach efforts and foster meaningful dialogue between the MCK and the community.

Emily began her new role on Monday, December 8, 2025.
