Public Safety Division invites community input on Animal Control Law regulations

Public Safety Division Announcement

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that it is currently seeking community feedback on two specific regulations under the Animal Control Law.

The review focuses on the following regulations:

  1. Animal control fines
  2. The appointment of the Animal Control Officer to uphold the Animal Control Law

Community input is an important part of this review process, and residents are encouraged to share their perspectives, concerns, and suggestions regarding these regulations.

To help gather feedback, Animal Control kiosks will be set up in the Service Complex lobby on the following dates:

  • Friday, March 20th, from 9am – 12 noon
  • Friday, March 27th, from 9am – 12 noon

In addition, a focus group session will be held in the Community Room at the Kahnawake Peacekeepers Station to allow for more in‑depth discussion and feedback:

  • Thursday, April 2nd, from 4pm – 7pm

Community members are encouraged to participate in one or more of these opportunities to ensure their voices are heard as part of the Animal Control regulations review.

  • Transfer Depot will be closed
  • Recycling, compost, and cardboard pickup service will continue as usual

Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 8:30am.

  • The MCK Cashier will close at 12 noon
  • The Transfer Depot will close for the day at 11:30am and will resume operation on Saturday, June 20th, at 8am
