Don’t be Trashy, Be Earth Friendly

Public Service Announcement

The Waste Management Department and the Kahnawake Environment Protection Office are initiating a community-wide contest to kick off Earth Month. From April 1st to April 30th, community members are called upon to help make our community litter-free.

All participants will be entered into a draw to win prizes, including a kayak, Shop Kahnawake gift certificates, a custom printed Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center skateboard, and a basket of low-waste and organic biodegradable items.

How to participate:

  1. Use the Kahnawà:ke Cleanup Tracker to identify local areas that need to be cleaned.
  2. Clean up the location.
  3. Take a picture of the cleaned location and submit it.
  4. Check out the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office  website here for more ways to get involved.

Let’s work together to keep our community clean, not only for a month, but for a lifetime. Our collective actions today will shape a healthier environment for the next generations and the natural world we share this earth with. Imagine a community where litter is a thing of the past and nature thrives. That’s the future we can create together. For more information, please contact Iotshatena:wi Reed at the Waste Management Department at 450-632-4321 or Julie Delisle at the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection office at 450-635-0600.
