Justice Services presents Victims of Crime Information Symposium 2025

Public Service Announcement

The Justice Services Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke invites frontline workers and community members to join Ionkwatahónhsate Victims Services for the Victims of Crime Information Symposium 2025. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Golden Age Club from 8:30am to 4pm. Interested persons may attend the entire symposium, or just the presentations of interest to them.

The symposium will feature several presentations:

  • Bullying Prevention – “Bullying Ends Here” presented by Tad Milmine, President and Founder of Bullying Ends Here, from 9:15am – 10:15am
  • Anti-Human Trafficking – “You Can’t Handle the Truth” presented by Jo-Anne Van Hooser, Anti-Human Trafficking Liaison with the Akwesasne Family Wellness Program, from 10:30am – 12 noon
  • Breaking the cycle: Understanding domestic abuse and its connections to trauma presented by David Martel, Clinical Supervisor Psychological Services with KSCS from 1:15pm – 2pm
  • Preventing Financial Abuse presented by Mandie Montour, General Manager of Caisse Populaire Kahnawà:ke, from 2:15pm – 3:30pm.

There will be a traditional opening and closing by Ahonwakerane Stacey. 

Registration is optional but encouraged by Wednesday, March 12th, at 4pm for meal purposes. Breakfast and lunch to be provided.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
