The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to remind community members that Nomination Day for the Alcoholic Beverages Control (ABC) Board will take place on Saturday, September 6th, from 9am to 1pm at the Golden Age Club.
Community members may complete nomination packages on site or drop off completed packages directly to Electoral Officer Marnie Jacobs and Assistant Electoral Officer Lindsay Leborgne.
There are currently six (6) vacant seats remaining on the ABC Board. Nomination packages can also be requested and submitted by email to ABCBoard@mck.ca. Submission requirements will be provided upon request.
In accordance with the ABC Law, nominees must:
- Be a Mohawk of Kahnawà:ke listed on the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke Registry
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have no direct or indirect interests in any enterprise that manufactures, distributes, transports, or sells alcoholic beverages within the Community of Kahnawà:ke
- Be willing to be publicly presented to the Community of Kahnawà:ke as a candidate
- Be nominated and seconded by two (2) Mohawks of Kahnawà:ke
- Be willing to serve a two (2) year term of office
