The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that, in consultation with Hydro-Québec, tree pruning in the community will begin on March 17th. This is part of an important initiative to prevent vegetation from making contact with power lines and causing potential power outages.
The pruning project will start at the eastern boundary (near the New Development) and continue to the western boundary (Châteauguay). The work is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
In addition to tree pruning, crews from Hydro-Québec and its contractor, Asplundh, will also be conducting vegetation maintenance and removal operations in the areas of Old Chateauguay Road, R-132, the New Development (Lot 106), and some areas within the Village. This work is required to ensure that overgrowth and trees do not make contact with Hydro-Québec’s electrical infrastructure.
The pruning and vegetation control will be carried out by AD Tree Service, owned and operated by Kahnawa’kehró:non, working alongside contactors from Asplundh, who have been trained by Hydro-Québec.
