Gaming Working Group

The GWG’s new Mandate aims to advance online and land-based gaming industries, as well as provide continued support to ensure the growth and development of the industry. These goals will be achieved by developing long-term strategies, focus on sustainability and remaining in the forefront as a leader in the Indigenous Gaming Sector.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke has launched an initiative to expand Electronic Gaming Devices (EGDs) in the community.

This project is part of a broader plan to:

  • Strengthen Kahnawà:ke’s gaming industry
  • Increase community-generated revenue
  • Support essential programs and services
  • Ensure strong and responsible regulation

The expansion will happen in phases, with a careful and controlled approach:

  • New permits will be issued for EGD facilities
  • Updated regulations will guide how and where facilities operate
  • Safety, transparency, and location planning will be key priorities

Timeline:

  • Application process: ~12 months
  • Construction and setup: follows approval
  • Facilities expected to open: 18–24 months

Documents:

  • Gaming Working Group (GWG) Mandate
  • 3-Year Summary of 9003 – FY2024–2026
  • Kahnawà:ke Gaming Market Assessment
MCK has led an engagement process to gather feedback, answer questions, and ensure the project reflects community priorities and values. Activities included kiosks, a special community meeting, informational radio shows, and an open line to provide feedback by emailing feedback@mck.ca.

More information on engagement results will be available mid-June 2026.
