The Housing Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the launch of the Short‑Term Rental Housing Program, a new initiative designed to provide temporary, safe, and affordable housing for families experiencing emergency housing situations. The program is intended as a short‑term solution to support community members while they work to resolve their housing emergency or secure longer‑term housing.
Three newly constructed rental units have been designated for the exclusive use of the program. Each unit is a detached, three‑bedroom house. Construction began last spring and was completed on May 1, 2026, with funding provided by Indigenous Services Canada through the Child and Family Services program.
To be eligible for the Short‑Term Rental Housing Program, applicants must:
- Be registered on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry (KKR)
- Be in good standing with the MCK Housing Unit
- Be experiencing an emergency housing situation
