Culvert and shoreline repairs begin May 11

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) wishes to advise the community that culvert and shoreline repair work will begin on Monday, May 11th.A crew from RS Construction will be at North Creek to repair the culvert and road surface installed during restoration work in Fall 2025. Work will also take place on the creek banks and nearby properties that were impacted during construction. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 22nd.

KEPO staff will be on site throughout the project to supervise the work. Construction hours will be Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm. Minor traffic disruptions are expected during this time, including a temporary detour to the area. Local traffic will be permitted to access homes and parking lots within the affected area; however, traffic will not be able to cross the bridge.

The goals of the culvert replacement are to reduce flood risk, improve water flow, and enhance fish habitat. This work is part of the project Entewahnekahserón:ni’: We Are Rejuvenating the Water, which is funded through Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Fund.

KEPO thanks the community for its patience and cooperation while this work is completed.

For questions or concerns, community members may contact KEPO at 450‑635‑0600.
