About Us

The Housing Unit provides assistance to community members in need of new housing, housing repair, temporary housing, and housing advice. These services ensure access to affordable housing, programs to preserve existing housing, and address the need for temporary rental housing.

Services

Mortgage Loans - Revolving Loan Fund & On-Reserve Loan Guarantee

Designed to help qualified applicants finance the full construction of a new house, purchase an existing house, or renovate a house.

Loans for Housing Renovation

The Home Repair Loan Program offers loan access up to $25,000 for basic house repairs, correcting deficiencies, and preventing deterioration. It aims to raise the house's standards and ensure a safe living environment for homeowners.

Rental Programs

Affordable housing units. From bungalows to apartment-style units, our 1-4 room units are designed to accommodate a variety of family sizes.

Construction/Contract Management Service

The Construction/Contract Management Service program offers a service to Kahnawa'kehró:non who are self-funding the construction of a new home or expanding an existing home. The Housing Unit oversees plan and contract review and inspection services to ensure proper construction meets the MCK's Building Code and Construction Standards. All fees for these services will be charged to the individual homeowner.

Supplemental Info

Family Sized Units

Offers affordable rental housing for low-moderate income families. It provides transitional accommodations and support through Housing Case Management to help tenants work towards future homeownership. This program is well-suited for families in need of affordable housing options.

Rental for Single Occupant

If you’re a low-income single adult facing challenges in accessing private housing, MCK Housing offers one-bedroom rentals tailored for you. We welcome both male and female tenants and require their collaboration in developing a case management plan during their stay.

Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP):

This program is to assist in the repair and improvement of existing substandard housing in Kahnawà:ke, to raise the house to a minimum level of health & safety, as well as address modifications to a house to address handicap needs.

  • Applicants must be on the K.K.R (Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry)
  • Applicants must own the House and property.
  • Applicants must be living in the House.
  • Only 1 RRAP is available for the property.

Director of Housing Unit

Governs MCK Housing programs and services, establishing a comprehensive strategic vision & operational plan meeting community housing needs of Kahnawa’kehró:non, while ensuring alignment with the overall strategy of the Organization. Oversees two Housing functions and their staff and collaborates closely with MCK Executive Officers and Directors and Housing Portfolio Chief.

HOUSING PROGRAMS & CLIENT SERVICES
Program Manager

The role researches, develops, and implements new housing programs and services which are aligned to the community’s needs and the strategic direction of the Housing Unit. The program manager is also responsible for the continuous improvement of the active programs. The position is accountable for defining the administrative and operational components of the Housing programs including ongoing monitoring and reporting of program performance.

Housing Programs & Project Management Coordinator

Role to coordinate housing loans and oversees construction for these loans. Works with inspector and Credit Management.

Client Information Intake Administrator

Role to receive and respond to all communications coming into the Housing Unit. Assists with all housing applications, manages internal invoices, manages insurances, and provides support to the Housing Programs & Project Management Coordinator.

Junior Programs Manager

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, analyzes, proposes, and actively participates in the development or implementation of new housing programs and services. Improvement of the active programs, accountable for administering the operational components of the Housing programs, monitoring and reporting program performance, as well as collaboration with Federal Funding Agencies, and prompt submission of applications and proposals.

Housing Administrative Generalist

Role to provide unit support, manage housing rental applications and works closely with the Client Experience Manager.

Client Experience Manager

Under the supervision of the Housing Director, provides full life cycle for the client experience, including education, on-boarding, support, and off-boarding, including all steps in the process, from initial contact with the Housing Unit.

Meet with clients to review requirements, client obligations, and provide financial guidance. Informs applicants about their status, welcomes successful applicants to their new units, manages all communications with existing tenants, follow-up regarding payments, etc.

This position is accountable for the administrative and operational components of the customer experience, and develops and monitors client service standards.

HOUSING CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
General Manager of Properties and Construction

Oversees inspector and maintenance employees. Role involves renovation and repair of MCK community housing units, in addition to evaluation and planning of construction of new community housing units.

Housing Program Inspector

Role to conduct inspection in community housing units, and for loan construction projects.

Maintenance

Role to respond to unit maintenance needs.

I'm very happy with the direction of the Housing Unit, since starting my position in mid October I've witnessed the Housing team work diligently to offer great service to the community. I'm honored to be apart of this team, we are headed in the right direction, and I'm excited to be part of the future of Housing in Kahnawà:ke.
